In particular, students will understand and apply the mechanisms by which social movements induce firms to engage with social issues from a position of responsible leadership. Projects will be based on stakeholder models in Corporate Social Responsibility and Social Movements. The social movement that we will be focusing on in this class Blue Peace-Water Diplomacy.

The cohort group project is to establish a sustainable Blue Peace Initiative at FUS which will require creating a social movement. The project plan includes a high-level panel event for the university community and student events.

The individual student project has as its goal to identify and enroll an company, government institution/program, NGO, professional organization, or university, into the Blue Peace movement.

This will require a student to work with a designated point person in the organization to develop a strategy for introducing the Blue Peace Initiative into the organization.

To support students in doing both projects well, there are required class readings that will be used to enhance the 2 projects. The first half of class will be linked to the readings and the second half of class will be dedicated to project work.
