COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course will put you inside a real company facing a sustainability challenge, with a focus on transition risks that climate change creates for companies, and lets you develop different solutions and strategies, think about their implications, and then present your results to a panel of experts. The sustainability challenge will be laid out in detail prior and during the first couple of days of the course. Subsequently, you will work in teams with your fellow students to develop your approach. The course will be highly interactive and requires you to think critically about responsible leadership of the individual and organizations in the context of corporate responsibility and the United Nations 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals. E.g., you will be challenged to reflect on the impact of the Sustainable Development Goals, how global managers prepare their companies to be sustainable for 2030 and beyond? Through examples and guidance from experts from the UN, as well as the business and the NGO world, we will explore what is discussed at strategy tables and how organizations are constantly revisiting their value chains to ensure long term success. With this knowledge you will be be better equipped to successfully engage in social, environmental and global issues as individuals and as leaders of organizations.
