Visiting a Doctor or Medical Provider

  1. Provide your SWICA Card at the front desk of the medical provider's office. If  you lost your SWICA card, contact Elena Verì-Sartori, Coordinator of Student Health Insurance at everisartori@fus.edu.
  2. Be sure to provide the correct billing address which is:

Your Full Name
C/O Franklin University Switzerland
Attention: Elena Verì-Sartori, OSL
Via Ponte Tresa 29

It is important that you follow these directions to guarantee the correct processing of your medical bills and to avoid potential problems with Swiss debt collectors for unpaid medical bills.

SWICA Medical Invoices are Managed by Franklin

After you visit a medical provider for treatment or care, an invoice (medical bill) will be sent to Franklin in your name (see address instructions above). If you have laboratory tests administered, the laboratory organization will send a separate medical invoice. Also, if you take an ambulance to the Emergency Room at a hospital, you will receive an invoice for the ambulance transportation and care and a separate invoice from the hospital. Please note: SWICA covers 50% of the ambulance related expenses after your deductible is met.

Franklin will pay for the medical invoice that arrived in your name. When the payment is processed, the Bursar's Office will charge the amount paid for the medical invoice to your Student Account.

SWICA will receive a copy of your medical invoice and will update your SWICA account. Remember, you are responsible for your SWICA deductible. The deductible is the part you must pay each calendar year (January to December) before your health insurance reimbursements begin.

  • SWICA Student Care will reimburse 100% of your approved medical expenses after your deductible is met each calendar year (January to December).
  • CHF 0.00 deductible until 18 years old / CHF 500.00 deductible starting from 19 years old

  • SWICA Medpharm  will reimburse 90% of your approved medical expenses after your deductible is met each calendar year (January to December).
  • CHF 600.00 deductible until 18 years old / CHF 2’000.00 deductible starting from 19 years old

All the incoming medical invoices in your name will be paid by Franklin and charged to your student account. When you receive a reimbursement from SWICA the amount will be credited to your Student Account. The date of the charge or of the credit for medical invoices placed on your Student Account will be the date of the administrative transaction. If you would like to view your original medical invoice listing the date of your medical appointment and detailed expenses, please contact Elena Verì-Sartori, Coordinator of Student Health Insurance at everisartori@fus.edu.
